Do you ever get the feeling that you are living in a world that is more diapered than you think? I know I do and I think many would be surprised how common it may be. Do you find yourself glancing at people’s butts to see if its padded and then getting excited if it happens to be? If you do, you are a bonafide diaper watcher like many diaper wearers. Look at some of the diaper forums sometimes and websites sometimes and see how many registered members there are…it easily reaches into the tens of thousands of members. This does not include guests who never register and just lurk. It really makes you wonder how many adult babies and/or diaper lovers are out there. Take into consideration that many of the English diaper forums like DailyDiapers do not account for the thousands if not millions of ABDLs around the world that simply don’t understand enough of the forum to interact or register. Its a huge amount of people if you really sit down to think about it.
So, you know the chances of you actually spotting a diapered person are quite high when you break it down. Just think about this, when you go to the mall next time on a Friday or Saturday night…I can assure you that statistics show that AT LEAST 1 other person in that mall is wearing an adult diaper…and thats at the least. I may not have some huge calculation to prove it but I can almost assure you that this is the case from what I have seen in the real world and online.
I guess sometimes I get this feeling I am living in a world that a huge amount of people whether for need or plewp_e are wearing diapers but yet its ironic because its taboo in so many places. Its not like some small interest group that has some fixation with pinky toes or something…I mean, we are talking about not only the incontinence community but also the ABDL community which encompasses a whole bunch of people. This is just me spoutin’ out random thoughts that I have had and wonder about…so, next time you are out in public, if it makes you feel any better – there is probably someone wearing an adult diaper in your vicinity somewhere! Mind-blowing isn’t it!.
Everyday I was there is always 3 more people in diapers. From the older people in wheelchairs, to the young girl. Your entry is so true.
Lol, I do find myself staring at other people’s butts from time to time in search of padding, but never have I really seen someone in padding for nonmedical reasons. sometimes I look around if I smell powder or something, just in case, but when I think about it, I’ve only worn in public once EVER, so if there were ABDLs in my area, what are the chances that they will be wearing in public? It’s much smaller when you think of it that way.
Your right in almost every other sence of the words your saying, I myself have been wearing diapers virtually all the time since almost 5 years ago after being diagnosed with a weak bladder and having to resort to wearing diapers and as I seid on my earlier stories I am a disabled person, but make the most of my life.
I have noticed since living in the UK in Cumbria there are more people than ever who wear diapers, as specially with an ever increasing aging population or those who like myself have the misfortune of being landed with disablities that cause us to be forced back to a simpler life in which we depend on wearing diapers not unlike a infant/child for the 2nd time in our lifes and although this seems to some people to be an enormously insurmountable or un-conqourable barrier in our paths it can be also a beneficial thing to experience for oneself as it can open your eyes to new opportunities to which you have been denied for so long or you simply didn’t know about before our lives changed.
I also have noticed a lot more children are wearing diapers later and later in life than previously in the past and that’s not a bad thing because of the fact they grow up to accept people in diapers as the normal thing and not strange or weird for choosing to wearing them.
In general attitudes are slowly changing but sadly there is still a lot to be done to end the traditional stereo types/stigmas around wearing diapers as an adult, and that’s why I am campaigning to end this negitive influence once and for all so it is no-longer embarrassing or ashaming for people who have done nothing wrong to wear the protection they need and not to ever feel guilty for doing so.
If you want to get involved the campaign website is the following.

This post really just made me feel really excited about going to the mall and reminded of a girl I went to high school with. I swear that every day her butt was just a little more padded than it should have been and I regret never finding out 🙁
Ground shaking mind boggling! yay
I coulda swore i saw a teenage girl late at night wearing one, and i definetly saw a guy on the train wearing one. they are out there O.o
Interesting, very interesting. I’ve been out in diapers in public before. The mall or a local book store like Books a Million or to a movie or two and nevered had any trouble. Most of the time I kept to myself if and when I’m out in diapers. As far as I could tell when ever I was out I can’t say that I’ve never could tell if anyone else was wearing a diaper or not for whatever their reason might be. If that, what kind of comment would anyone might make if caught or wearing a diaper out in public. A girl looking for a guy and a guy looking for a girl. No ones the same when it comes to wearing diapers in public for whatever there reason is.
I think you just encouraged my diaper paranoia. lol.
If you look at the statistics that are prevalent, most medical professionals estimate that 24 million Americans have some form of incontinence. There are only 300 million Americans, so that means that there is a possibility that one out of every 12 people in that mall are using some kind of protection, or at least made note of where the bathrooms are. I know that incontinence affects older people more often, but the numbers of people aged 18-50 with some form of incontinence is more common than once thought.
I may not feel that I am living in a diapered world, but as a 32 year old, who has been incontinent for almost 8 years, I do know that I am in good company.
I never really been looking at peoples butts to see if they was diaperd but the other day I was in boots and seen a young lady buy some diapers.. so you never know who is a diaper wearer or ABDL lol
Greetings. This is something I think about quite a bit. I can’t see padding without eyesight, but sometimes I will hear that distinctive crinkling noise that we all know on someone older than a toddler, and discretely follow them around. I was working with a lady at the Red Cross once, and I swear I heard what sounded like an Attends, but didn’t ask for fear of embarrassing her. Sometimes I will walk by someone and swear I caught a hint of diaper smell. I used to walk around the large mall that I used to live near while wearing diapers, and no one ever noticed or cared if they did. By the way, if JKS16 or Aimée is reading this, I tried to comment on your blog, but it is not at all blind user friendly. I love your blog and wish you all the best. Please say hello to your bunnies for me, and know that I’ll be reading. Thanks Adrian for this fascinating post.
I’m always so curious and interested in seeing someone else in diapers at the Mall or attending sporting events, or even fairs. I’ve only spotted one lady in a wheel chair who was wearing but several senior citizens also with padded bottoms. No young women spotted yet, but I shall maintain some diligence, especially if I spy an attractive female lurking around the diaper sales department. I may even ask if she is shopping for herself if I feel brave enough. As for myself, I wear to movies, the mall, and other events. Always with Protex rubber pants to prevent any potential leaks and odor escape. Be happy in your wearing and enjoy the scene.

Oh dear me. I am terribly sorry that my blog didn’t allow your comment. I use blogger and I just had it set on the default setting. I am touched that you read my blog though. I changed the setting so maybe you can post. My bunnies and I thank you 🙂
and about this post. I agree. I mean, I think there has to be a good number of people in diapers or every drug store I see wouldn’t carry them! There has to be people buying them for the stores to keep selling them.
Funny that you mention this, one of my managers told he that he started wearing diapers after getting sick last month. So it must be rather common…
What I don’t like about diapers is the social stigma associated with it. I mean there are a lot of people who wear diapers and are really embarrassed by their diapers. I wish they were not seen so negative… and people didn’t have to feel embarrassed. I think diapers are wonderful.
I think there will be lots of people out there wearing protection, but I suspect few, here in the UK at least, will be wearing more than a light pad as proper adult nappies are very expensive and mostly need to be bought mail order. I usually go out in pull-ups but I doubt anyone would notice. How often do you make a sighting Adrian?
R
@ Richard
Am from the UK and adult diaper’s are cheap have you tried http://www.blushingbuyer.co.uk and if you go in to disability shops they normally carry adult diapers or they will order them in. But I don’t see why shops like Tesco, ASDA or Sainsbury’s don’t carry adult diapers they are missing out on a massive money earner
I am sure there are people who wear diapers to the movies (moi included). You pay 15 bucks to go see an IMAX movie and you better be sure to be able to sit and watch the whole thing. Very rarely have I seen other people leave the IMAX theater to use the loo and most movies are at least 2.5 to 3 hours long. You’re in the dark anyway so nobody can see your padded bottom. I’ll have to try that mall sighting thing next time I’m there… Definitely there will be people with padded bottoms in the bar…don’t want to be going to the loo every half hour…
First of all, I want to congradulate Adrian on a fabulous website with great blogs about wearing diapers. She sounds like one amazing lady and someone I would definitely want to be friends with. I have over active bladder and some nerve issues that require I wear diapers from time to time. Sometimes it’s 24/7, sometimes it’s just at night, sometimes it just depends where I’ll be or what I’ll be doing. I also need to take water pills so those affect my need to wear diapers if I am going to be away from the house after taking them. Sometimes my bladder will just act up and I wind up having accidents if I can’t get to a bathroom in time. To sum it up – – it’s a mess. I don’t want to wear diapers 24/7 because of the work (I am a professional in my 50’s) I do and I don’t want everyone to know.
As for spotting someone in diapers, that has only happened to me twice – – both times when I have been in the men’s room and I’ve heard someone changing in one of the stalls. The rustle of the diaper and the tapes make an uniqure sound that another diaper wearer would notice in an instant. In both instances I refrained from starting a conversation with the person, but I now wish I had. I would love to be friends with someone who is incontinent and had to wear diapers provided that our mutual interest went beyond our incontinence. I recently started physical therapy for my bladder issues and was told that half of their practice is male — incontinence is not only a female issue – – and that the guys they are seeing are as young as 18. She said I’d be surprised to learn how many guys in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s have incontinence issues and need to wear diapers. It’s just amazing. I’m hoping that in the next decade, incontinence and diaper wearing adults come out of the closet more and more – – the way gay people have – – and that we become more socially accepted and less of a “secret society.”
I’ve very, very rarely encountered anyone wearing a (detectable) diaper. Perhaps I’ll see another diaper wearer about once every couple of months. The social stigma is so negative, it’s depressing.
Due to an injury, I have gone from occasionally wearing in public to always wearing. I typically put on khakis and a shorter shirt (one that rides up in the back when I bend over or hunker down) just to see other people’s reactions, if they even notice. I’ve had people follow me, come up close and pause, but no one has ever had the gonads to actually say anything. I keep hoping I’ll encounter a femme fatale wearing, and that I’ll have the gumption to at least say, “Hi.”
I would love to meet others who are at least OK with the idea of me wearing diapers, and it would be a dream come true to attend a local conference of incontinent people who are willing to share their stories.
Wow…and I just thought I was weird. I didn’t know that there were others as odd as me. At least now I know that I am not alone in this odd fascination of checking out other people’s butts to see if they are diapered or not. Haha!
I’ve always been particularly appreciative of a fine rump, and panty lines are a joy to behold. So many women just don’t understand- underwear, absorbent or not, are like the frame around a beautiful work of art. Would you take the Mona Lisa and simply stab a nail through it to hang it on your wall? Or would you rather have it properly displayed in a tasteful frame that adds to it’s allure?
Many women choose underwear that almost seem designed to cheapen their appearance- it’s puzzling to me….
I’ve always found myself looking at the butts of people in search for diapers – my only problem is that I really DON’T know what a diapered butt looks like. I know what those lousy fetishistic diapered butts look like, but those are so hyperbolic.
I love diapers.
I am a retired EMT that has been a ABDL for over 40 years. more people then you would believe wear adult diapers.
Why do you think that just about every drug store has a adult diaper area and that there are many brands out there.
Being retired/disabled i now get to wear all the time so i likely am one of those at mall or other stores. and on the metro trains.
Being i am now 60 no one would ever think i wear because i like to not because of my disability.
I don’t even completely hide that i wear.
A few times a year i go to a nude beach(blacks beach) and i get undressed like everyone else except t wear a diaper and take it off and don’t try to hide it.
working in a retail enviroment is really helpfull, ive seen a couple, mostly older people but i have seen a really beautiful girl buying at bi-los and and a few padded buts here and there, several messed diapers and panties in therstroom as well,
Earlier in the week, while at work, I saw a guy with a pack of Depends. I couldn’t help but to think if he’s either an AB/DL (or both). I am strictly a DL, as I don’t intend to suck on a pacifier or drink from a baby bottle. I really do wish Bambino’s and the Secure X-Pluses would be available out in the retail market, instead of just online. Anybody know where I can buy those cushies diapers? Is there a website for those?
It may seem like there are not very much people with diapers but there are a lot of people with diapers out there.
Definitely in the movies people are going to wear diapers so they don’t have to go to the restrooms and miss their movie.
When you get popcorn, candy and soda to enjoy your movie have you realized how big the popcorn and drinks are?
Im not sure what movie theaters you guys go to but my theater has drinks so big that you are going to pee a lot when you see your movie. Thats why it comes in handy when you’re diapered at the movies. Im pretty sure everyone is going to pee a lot which is why a lot of people wear diapers to the movies.
The large drink here at my theater is equivalent to a 2 liter soda which is way to much for me.
I always get the small drink but even the small drink is a lot too.
Diapers always keep me safe when I see a movie because Im definitely going to pee especially when I get a drink.
🙂
